About us
In 1948 Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded the company M. K. Juchheim GmbH in Fulda, and started the production of high-quality glass and glass contact thermometers. The trade name JUMO is derived from the name of the founder (Juchheim, Moritz). The product spectrum was gradually expanded in the 50s. In 1985 Bernhard Juchheim, son of the founder, took over general management. The mother company was renamed as JUMO GmbH & Co. KG in June 2003, to match the naming of the international subsidiaries. At the same time, Michael Juchheim was appointed as C.E.O. with power of sole representation, as was his father, Bernhard. Since 2022, Bernhard and Michael Juchheim have focused on their owner role, while JUMO managing directors are Dimitrios Charisiadis and Dr. Steffen Hoßfeld.
Now in the third generation of activity as a family-owned enterprise, JUMO has a staff of around 2,500 employees throughout the group. Today, the extensive product spectrum from JUMO covers components and system solutions for the measurement, control, recording and analysis of physical and chemical parameters. The products range from sensors for temperature, pressure, and analytical measurement up to complete automation and cloud solutions. JUMO products and systems are used in a very wide variety of sectors in the capital goods industries. In the field of industrial temperature sensors for heat meters, JUMO has been the world market leader for years.
As a hybrid company, JUMO supports customers throughout the entire product life cycle, from development to downstream services. Based on a very high vertical range of manufacture, JUMO can react quickly and flexibly to customer requirements. Complete solution with intuitive operation
JUMO is expanding its extensive automation portfolio with a complete solution for process engineering operations. The application is designed to be particularly user-friendly and can be used in a wide range of industries.
At the heart of the solution is the JUMO variTRON automation system, for which a special application for process engineering has been developed. With the help of various JUMO smartWARE applications, an integrated solution can be implemented from the sensor to the cloud. The focus is on three user groups.
Manufacturers of process engineering plants can use JUMO smartWARE Setup to define individual process steps and plant types. Plant operators can use the new JUMO smartWARE program to intuitively create and edit process engineering programs and recipes using a graphical editor. This browser-based application can be used on a PC, laptop, or tablet.
End users can then visualize and control the program flow in the browser with the aid of a display, for example on a web panel or a tablet. The user interface can be freely customized, is consistent and can be operated intuitively.
In addition, other JUMO applications such as JUMO smartWARE SCADA, JUMO Cloud, or JUMO smartWARE Evaluation can be used for monitoring, batch recording, and individual report generation.
The areas of application for the process engineering application are diverse and range from applications in the food industry to autoclaves, CIP systems, and greenhouses to industrial furnace construction or environmental technology.
Optimal Climate with JUMO hydroTRANS
Flexible humidity and temperature transmitter with optional CO2 module
Devices of the JUMO hydroTRANS series are reliable humidity and temperature transmitters with an optional CO2 module, which operate according to the capacitive measurement method. The device series is available with various interfaces. It is characterized by easy installation, robustness, and reliable sensor technology.
Precise humidity and temperature monitoring is the basic requirement for accurate control of indoor and process air. As a result, users from the HVAC field (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) can reduce costs and minimize maintenance effort.
The JUMO hydroTRANS is the ideal partner for climate monitoring in offices and living quarters, railway applications, warehouses, or production halls. It is available in 4 variants: wall-mounted, duct, rod, or indoor. All of these versions can be mounted and installed very easily. The various models with protection classes between IP20 and IP65 make the device suitable for a wide range of building automation applications.
The measuring range includes 0 to 100 % rH, while the accuracy is 2 % rH. JUMO hydroTRANS has a modern color display and can be used in temperature ranges between -40 to +80 °C. A variant with an optional CO2 module, which has a measuring range of up to 10 000 ppm, is available for precise determination of the indoor air quality. Very low response times can be achieved by placing the module in the probe head. A voltage and current output as well as Modbus are available as interfaces.

JUMO, a system and solution provider, presents 2 significant innovations in the latest system version for the JUMO variTRON controller family, which considerably increase efficiency and flexibility in industrial automation.
“On the one hand, customers can look forward to a truly unique selling point with the recording app for the JUMO variTRON controller family, since the function of a paperless recorder is moving to the PLC. On the other hand, with the new JUMO I/O system for the JUMO variTRON PLC family, users can expect a family of modules that is 'state of the art',” explains Michael Wiener, Global Product Manager PLCs Strategic at JUMO.
The recording app for the JUMO variTRON 500 touch offers an innovative recorder function directly on the device for the first time. It enables efficient data recording and process visualization directly on site, without the need for additional hardware or software.
This functionality is available on the web for the DIN rail devices JUMO variTRON 300 and JUMO variTRON 500, which makes flexible and mobile use possible. “JUMO offers its customers a USP because they can dispense with a complete device in the form of a classic paperless recorder,” emphasizes Niklas Hack, Global Product Manager Data Recording & Evaluation / Transmitter at JUMO.

JUMO variTRON 500 touch provides users with a smart solution for simple automation applications. It can be used in a wide range of industries.
These include plant engineering, mechanical engineering, measurement, control, automation, industrial furnace construction, food industry, pharmaceutical/medical/biotechnology, energy and water supply, as well as water and environmental engineering.
It is the first JUMO device with a capacitive touchscreen. The central processing unit and display are built into one device. JUMO now provides an entire PLC family. The product is available in 7" and 10.1" as well as with IP65 and IP69K (excellent robustness) protection type.
"We work with market standards like CODESYS V3.5 and Node-RED as development environments," explains product manager Michael Wiener. CODESYS is the central element of the PLC.
The JUMO variTRON 500 touch enables clear process and plant visualizations as well as user interfaces. Full connectivity to systems and components is provided due to support for numerous fieldbus systems (such as PROFINET IO controller and EtherCAT master) as well as modern communication protocols like OPC UA. The JUMO variTRON 500 touch is an example of reliable control technology with independent PID controllers, including autotuning function.
JUMO variTRON 500 is based on a powerful CPU with an 800 MHz quad-core processor. The software has a modular structure based on a Linux platform and uses the CODESYS V3.5 programming environment SP17 to create PLC programs. Another special feature is a customer-specific configuration and process data editor. In addition, individual applications can be created using the modern programming environment Node-RED.
Meat Products: Innovative JUMO Technology for Maximum Hygiene and Freshness

"Our innovative program app makes creating recipes easy and allows for almost programming-free sequence control. The new recorder app makes creating trend visualizations and seamless batch reports effortless, and when used in conjunction with our JUMO smartWARE Evaluation, it ensures manipulation detection,” says Michael Wiener, Global Product Manager PLCs Strategic at JUMO.
Both apps are integrated into the JUMO controls which makes them unique on the market in this form. “This is how meat processing can be quick and smooth,” emphasizes Wiener.
The new JUMO I/O system
The new JUMO I/O system offers a cost-effective and innovative way to implement a variety of industrial automation requirements. A wide range of analog and digital input and output modules makes customized process maps possible. It also contributes to increased production efficiency through improved cycle times. A particular highlight is the DIN rail controller from JUMO, which makes the I/O system unique. Its modular design enables the system to be expanded. The flexible and scalable JUMO I/O system enables maximum adaptability through PUSH IN or pluggable terminals.
The new JUMO variTRON recorder app
The recorder app that is integrated into the JUMO variTRON controllers makes additional paperless recorders redundant by visualizing critical process parameters in real time. This feature is integrated in the firmware of the JUMO variTRON 500 touch, while the JUMO variTRON 500 offers the function on a web-based platform. Data security is guaranteed by digital, self-signing certificates in conjunction with hash algorithms.
The JUMO hydroTRANS series is ideal for climate control in meat production. JUMO meroTRON 104 is ideally suited for controlling the cooking kettles. It features a modular one-channel/two-channel controller with optional PLC function (ST code editor).
