Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a process used to remove suspended solids, oils, and grease from wastewater. It works by injecting air into the effluent through microbubble pumps. The air bubbles attach to solid particles, making them rise to the surface, where a scraper removes the floating sludge. To enhance the efficiency of the process, coagulants and polymers are added to improve floc formation. DAF can be used in primary treatment to separate solids from liquids, replacing sedimentation systems. In tertiary treatment, it helps remove nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, improving effluent quality and ensuring proper water clarification.
