Friedr. Dick, the world market leader for sharpening steels, has expanded its extensive assortment to include a multifunctional 2K plastic handle for sharpening steels.

For as long as people have been using knives – and they have done so since the Stone Age – they have needed a tool to sharpen them and keep them sharp. Various hard stones in particular were used in the early days of knife sharpening to give cutting tools and knives a new level of sharpness. File cutter workshops were the first manufacturers of sharpening steels. The knowledge gained from early days of file manufacturing played a key role in the development of the sharpening steel. The history of Friedr. Dick can also be traced back to this origin. Friedr. Dick commenced producing sharpening steels back in 1873 and is still doing so today exclusively in Germany. Long tradition and know-how make Friedr. Dick a specialist in “sharpening and grinding knives”. Even today, self-developed production methods and our own technology is utilised in our daily manufacturing process.

F. DICK sharpening steels are available with different cuts. The cut determines the surface quality and the abrasion on the cutting edge of the knife. A choice of different sharpening steel cuts is available depending on the desired material abrasion. The quality and performance of F. The new sharpening steel handle is multi-functional.: Thanks to the 2K injection moulding process the material properties of two different plastics are joined and combined in a pre-designed production process. Hard plastic with stable and resilient properties comes together with soft plastic for comfortable and secure handling. Through this new production method we continue to maintain our outstanding hygiene and safety standards. With its unique look & feel, the new handle has a comfortable and natural hold, satisfying all ergonomic requirements with easy handling. The newly designed handles continue to offer our best safety features thanks to the distinct finger guard plus a slip-proof surface when wet or greasy, even when using gloves. The sharpening steel blades captivate with their outstanding product characteristics, featuring high-grade carbon steel, a strong galvanic coating, extreme hardness and precision defined surfaces - thereby providing the user with the highest performance qualities and longevity in service life.

The new 2K sharpening steel handle is available on our standard cut, fine cut and diamond coating sharpening steels, and comes in various shapes and sizes.
